To request a First Time User ID
to access DISCOVER,
e-mail: seu.careerplan@stedwards.edu Please
include your name, SEU ID#, or if you’re an alumnus, include your degree
and year of graduation. You may also visit the Career Planning office in Moody
Hall 134 to receive a DISCOVER User ID. *Before completing DISCOVER’s Personal
Info. page, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR ASSIGNED USER ID TO MATCH
YOUR SEU STUDENT ID NUMBER.
DISCOVER assists you with the following:
- Take Career Inventories to explore
your interests, skills, and values
- Research and compare occupations/careers
and majors
- Research universities, graduate schools, and
professional schools
- Learn “basic” job search skills:
resumes, cover letters, interviewing
- Print your Career Portfolio, Inventory Profile,
and job search materials
As a St. Edward’s STUDENT
or ALUMNUS you have free access to DISCOVER. You require
a User ID/Token which you can obtain through the SEU Career Planning
Office. Students enrolled in FYSM classes (Freshman Year Seminar
in Major) will receive their User ID’s from their instructors.
(If your FYSM instructor does not assign DISCOVER obtain a User
ID through the Career Planning Office.)
For how long is my DISCOVER User
ID effective?
The DISCOVER User ID is effective as long as Career Planning maintains
a DISCOVER license. Once a year we will terminate unused accounts;
to regain access, you reapply. You should print out any DISCOVER
results that you want to keep in your personal files.
eDISCOVER ISN’T A SUBSTITUTE FOR
INDIVIDUAL CAREER COUNSELING!
It’s a convenient way to access career planning resources
via computer, at home or on campus. Contact the Career
Planning office in Moody Hall 134 (or call 512-448-8530)
to set up an appointment to discuss your DISCOVER results
and for individualized career assessment, career/major exploration
and career counseling. – Also, consider registering
for the Career Planning and Management class, CPAM
1110
(for credit – independent study – fall/spring), which
helps students make decisions about and research careers/majors,
learn about job search, build a career portfolio, and research
graduate/professional schools.
