Self-Assessment Resources
Most people do not spend enough time getting to know themselves
to help in the decision making process for selecting a major and/or
career. The Career Planning/Career Planning department highly encourages
you to spend a lot of time in this process. In addition to Self-Assessment
tests and meetings with a career or academic or faculty advisor,
you should research the literature which is available in the Career Planning
office and on the internet. Making a decision about a major or
career will be one of the most important choices of your life.
The more you learn about yourself, the better you’ll be
able to match your personality, interests, skills, and values
to a specific field of study or career path. Below are a few resources
on the topic of career self-assessment.
Books
- Major in Success by Patrick Combs
- What Color is Your Parachute by Richard Nelson Bolles
- Zen by Laurence G . Boldt
- Do What You Are by Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron-Tieger
