Job Fair Networking Tips
- Research companies and opportunities in advance through Hilltop Careers and company websites.
- Smile, offer a handshake, and introduce yourself with a prepared “elevator speech” (1 min. commercial)
- Spend quality time with the recruiter, but don’t overstay your welcome.
- Be prepared to talk about your experiences and skills.
- Don’t interrupt conversations between recruiters and other students.
- Take initiative to ask about “next steps” in the process.
- Don’t hang out with your friends; this is a professional event.
- Visit as many employers as possible; this is a networking event.
- Put your “best foot forward”; remember you are representing St. Edward’s University.
- Collect business cards and do follow-up within 24-48 hours with a Thank You note.
