The Honors Program is designed for students in the traditional undergraduate program who are academically talented and passionate about learning. Students in the program take a minimum of seven Honors seminars and complete an Honors Senior Thesis project. They must maintain a minimum GPA in Honors courses of 3.50. Many Honors seminars may be substituted for General Education requirements.
The Honors Program offers students small classes with other highly motivated students and distinguished professors. Classes require a high level of student participation and emphasize writing and critical thinking.
Information for Current Students and Incoming Transfer Students
Most students enter the program as first-semester freshmen. However, a limited number of other students are admitted. Click on Applying to the Program for information or contact the Director of the Honors Program, Barbara Filippidis (512) 448-8558; barbaraf@admin.stedwards.edu.
Information for Incoming Freshmen
Admission to the program is limited to approximately 30 students, and applications are considered throughout the year until the program fills. Therefore, it is to a student's advantage to apply for Honors at the same time as applying for admission or shortly thereafter. For more information click on Applying to the Program, Entering Freshmen.
