Congratulations EDDIE Awards Winners!

Here’s a quick overview of this year’s winning projects, all of which have improved the experiences of our students or furthered the reputation of St. Edward’s University.

Category: Process Improvement for Ease of Students

Winner: 24-Hour Video Lab
The 24-hour video lab was created in response to student requests for a lab space where they could work without interruption especially during finals. The 24-hour video lab provides the necessary state-of-the-art technology and equipment so students can create digital media projects. The newly renovated space in the Woodward Office Building features 24 new computers — both PCs and iMacs — all equipped with cutting-edge video editing software such as iMovie and Premiere Elements. The lab also features stand-alone DVD burners. Team members:

Winner: Living Learning Communities
The Living Learning Communities at St. Edward’s were created to enhance the freshman student experience by merging the academic and residential aspects of freshman life to foster seamless learning. A select number of freshman have the opportunity to live together in either Teresa or Dujarié hall and examine a critical issue — global understanding or service and social justice — at a more in-depth level. Students enjoy engaging discussions, eye-opening service projects and out-of-class events that tie back to the classroom. Team members:

Winner: Wild Basin Marketing, Membership and Programming
St. Edward’s formed an affiliation with the Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve in 2008 in order to create a multi-disciplinary outdoor laboratory for students. Embracing this partnership, St. Edward’s began assisting in Wild Basin’s promotional efforts, including developing a new marketing plan and redesigning the Wild Basin brand. The marketing reboot was designed to increase membership and connect Wild Basin with the Austin community. Team members:

Judges’ Special Merit Award: Physical Plant Uniforms
Physical Plant workers are some of the most visible members of the campus community. Not only do workers assist in campus-wide emergencies, they often provide directions to visitors and campus residents alike. It became apparent that for safety reasons and to present a professional image, the workers should have official uniforms that would identify each staff member as a Physical Plant employee. Team members:
