The goal of the School
of Education is to prepare students who will be professionally
competent to teach in public and private elementary and secondary
schools. This preparation process, however, is a university-wide
responsibility. Therefore, a student who is preparing to become
a teacher will initially select an appropriate academic major
within one of the five schools in the university. The student
then follows a degree plan developed cooperatively by these
schools and the faculty of the School of Education to prepare
the student for graduation as well as for Texas teacher certification.
