Texas Athletic Trainers License

To be licensed as an athletic trainer in Texas, an individual must meet the following University and general requirements:

  1. Complete the following courses at SEU:
  2. BIOL 2404
    Anatomy and Physiology
    KINE 2320
    Safety and First Aid
    KINE 3334
    Musculoskeletal Anatomy and Biomechanics
    KINE 3335
    Prevention and Treatment of Athletic Injuries
    KINE 3344
    Concepts of Physical Fitness and Wellness
    KINE 4337
    Exercise Physiology
    KINE 4347
    Advanced Athletic Training
  3. Hold valid First Aid and CPR Certifications.
  4. Perform and document 1800 clock hours of field experience under the direct supervision of a state-licensed athletic trainer. Experience must be completed in three successive years (Fall and Spring semesters only) with no less than 600 clock hours completed within each academic year. (KINE 4351-4357 Practica in Athletic Training)
  5. Earn a baccalaureate degree.
  6. Successfully complete the state licensing examination and receive subsequent approval of the Board of Athletic Trainers for the State of Texas.
