Admission to Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Education Program

All post-baccalaureate students intent on earning a teaching certificate must apply for admission to the Teacher Education Program. Post-baccalaureate students who have not been admitted into the program will not be permitted to enroll in EDUC or READ coursework at or above the 4000 level. The preparation of a deficiency plan and admission to the University does not constitute admission to the Teacher

  1. Have at least a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher on all college-level coursework.
  2. Have a deficiency plan prepared by, and on file with, the Dean of Education.
  3. Completion of the THEA Test with a minimum test score of 250 in reading, 230 in mathematics, and 220 in writing.
  4. Completion of, or concurrent enrollment in, EDUC 3330 and/or EDUC 3331.
  5. Completion of an interview with a designated teacher education faculty member and a favorable recommendation from that faculty member.
  6. Submission of a formal application by the appropriate deadline. The deadlines for application are March 1 and October 1. Application forms are available in Holy Cross Hall, 102.
