Teacher Certification Testing Requirements

Teacher Licensure Examinations (TExES)

Individuals seeking teacher certification in Texas are required to successfully complete comprehensive licensure examinations. The specific exams required are designated
on the degree or deficiency plan. An individual must have either completed the work outlined on the deficiency plan or be enrolled in the final semester of the program before
taking exams.

The successful completion of a licensure practice test is required before a student may register for the appropriate test (see below). Licensure test registration materials are
available in the School of Education office, Fleck Hall, 216.

Post-baccalaureate candidates who did not complete their content area course work requirements at SEU, and who do not successfully complete the designated content
area test on the first attempt, may be required to complete additional content area course work before receiving subsequent authorization for licensure test registration for the
designated content area test.
