Students intent on earning
a teaching certificate in conjunction with a degree
must apply for admission to the Teacher Education
Program. Undergraduate students who have not been
admitted into the program will not be permitted to
enroll in EDUC or READ coursework at or above the
3000 level. Declaration of an academic major associated
with teacher education is not equivalent to admission
to the program.

| In order to become
eligible for admission to the Teacher Education Program, the
undergraduate candidate must fulfill the following requirements:

- Completion of sixty (60) semester hours with a cumulative
grade point average of 2.50 or better. Transfer students
must complete twelve (12) hours of coursework at St. Edward's.
- Completion of all Foundational Skills courses (except
foreign language) with a grade of C or better.
- Completion of the TASP Test with
a minumum test score of 250 in reading, 230 in mathematics,
and 220 in writing.
- Completion of an interview with a designated
teacher education faculty memeber and a favorable recommendation
from that faculty member.
- Submission of a formal application by the appropriate
deadline. The deadlines for application are March 1 and
October 1. Application forms are available in Holy Cross
Hall, 102.

| The Teacher Education
Advisory Committee will convene to review applications and
make recommendations for admission or denial to the program.
Applicants will be notified of admission status in writing.
Any student denied admission may reapply later when eligibility
requirements are met. There will be no conditional admissions.
