2011 Spring Graduates

President of Carnegie Corporation to Speak at Commencement

On Saturday, May 14, Vartan Gregorian, PhD, will address the 2011 senior class and their families and friends. Born in Iran of Armenian parents, he is the 12th president of Carnegie Corporation of New York, the prominent grant-making institution dedicated to advancing education, knowledge and international peace.

Gregorian holds a bachelor’s degree and PhD in history and humanities from Stanford and has taught European and Middle Eastern history at a number of universities. He serves on the boards of Human Rights Watch, the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation and the Museum of Modern Art, and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civil award.
