Fall Workshops Help Students Explore Careers
Students explored career choices through a variety of fall workshops, including the November Career Panels hosted by Academic Planning & Support and Alumni & Parent Programs and the Natural Sciences Career Symposium sponsored by the School of Natural Sciences in September.
The November Career Panels featured a question-and-answer panel with 12 university alumni from a variety of professions, including medicine, business, photography, law, human resources, communication, counseling and politics. After the panel, students participated in breakout sessions with individual panelists. The daylong Natural Sciences Career Symposium featured career workshops designed for students in specific majors and led by scientists and teachers in each field. The seminar also included sessions on internships and graduate school admission and a keynote address by Lon Brenner, stewardship and analysis manager in the Refining Operations Division at Valero Energy in San Antonio.
Also this fall, Career Planning held more than 25 workshops that included:
- Enhancing Your Employability
- Developing a Résumé & Cover Letter
- Networking with Austin Mayor Will Wynn
