Psychologist Jonathan Haidt’s “Moral Psychology and the Misunderstanding of Religion,” in which he argues religious believers in the U.S. are “happier, healthier, longer-lived, and more generous to charity and to each other than are secular people.” Please RSVP to kater@stedwards.edu for lunch. |

A Gathering of Faiths
Three events over the course of the day offer religious exploration with displays and presentations highlighting the common pursuit of faith and understanding in the sciences, music, fine arts and performance. These events are being held in conjunction with the 2009 Parliament of the World’s Religions. Brought to you by Campus Ministry.
- Festival of Faiths, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Ragsdale Lawn: Displays and presentations will highlight the common pursuit of faith and
understanding in the sciences, music, fine arts and performance.
- Experiences of Faith: A Student Leader Panel Discussion, 5-6 p.m., Maloney Room, Main Building: Enjoy a panel discussion with current St. Edward’s students representing the various faith traditions on campus.
- Nostra Aetate, 7 p.m., Maloney Room, Main Building: Attend a panel discussion that will explore the values reflected in Nostra Aetate, the ground breaking Vatican II (1965) document that expressed a commitment to dialogue and understanding among diverse faith traditions.

Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) Conference Deadline
The APPE is having their annual meeting in Cincinnati Ohio from March 4-7. Please contact Jack if you are interested in proposing a paper by the October 10 deadline. He can help you brainstorm a topic, and if your paper is accepted (and his budget permits) he may even have some faculty development funds to help you go! |

The Most Reverend John McCarthy Lecture Series on the Catholic Church in the 21st Century, 5 p.m., Jones Auditorium
The series will feature Fr. Guy Bedouelle, a Dominican theologian and President of the Université Catholique de l’Ouest (UCO). He will present, “The Catholic Church and its Past - Between Attack and Defense: The History of the Inquisition.” Valet parking provided. Reception to follow the lecture. |

Ethics Consultations for Faculty and Staff -- and Your Students: Jack is available to do ethics consultations for faculty, staff, and students on ethics and law.
