  • Freshman Orientation 2013: Session 1

    Thursday, June 13, 8:00am-Friday, June 14, 4:00pm at

    Freshman students entering the fall semester may choose from six Orientation sessions throughout the summer. Events planned during Orientation provide opportunities to meet other new students, as well as St. Edward's University faculty, staff, student leaders and administrators. In addition, we provide academic placement testing so you may choose courses appropriate to your proficiencies.

  • Mary Moody Northen Theatre presents THE SECRET GARDEN

    Thursday, June 13, 7:30pm-Sunday, June 30, 10:30pm at Mary Moody Northen Theatre

    Join MMNT for this magical and heartwarming musical based on the classic children’s novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. This final production of our 40th anniversary season features guest artists Greg Holt, Cara Johnston, Ev Lunning, Jr. and David Long and is directed by Broadway veteran Robert Westenberg. Performances are Thursday - Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:00 pm. Opening night on June 13 includes a reception after the show. June 14 is Student/Faculty/Staff night, with deep discounts for SEU community members.  Additional Student Night on June 20. Group rates are available.

  • Mindfulness Silent Retreat at Wild Basin

    Saturday, June 22, 9:00am-3:00pm at Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve, 805 N. Capital of Texas Hwy. Austin, TX 78746

    The Austin Mindfulness Center will be hosting a silent retreat with a discounted rate for the St. Edward's community. You will be guided through a variety of practices including: mindful movement, sitting meditation, walking meditation, body scan, mindful eating, and loving kindness meditation. The event will take place both indoors and in the natural environment of the Wild Basin Preserve. Lunch will be provided.   • A Conversation with Stuart Bowen, Special Investigator for Iraq Reconstruction

    Monday, June 24, 5:30pm-7:30pm at Main Building, Maloney Room

    The Kozmetsky Center, the World Affairs Council of Austin and the Texas Foreign Service Group hosts a conversation with Stuart Bowen, the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR). This will not be an "Iraq" conversation, but will look ahead to the other challenges the U.S. faces today in Syria and other unstable states.

  • Wild Basin Kid Friendly Snake Lecture and Hike

    Tuesday, June 25, 6:30pm-8:00pm at Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve, 805 N. Capital of Texas Hwy. Austin, TX 78746

    We will start the program off at 6:30 with an hour-long family friendly snake program (all ages welcomed) presented by University of Texas Herpetology professor Travis LaDuc.  Travis will be bringing 5 to 10 of his favorite scaled friends as he discusses the snakes found in Central Texas.  This program will be a more kid-centered program.
    Next, Travis County Volunteer Coordinator William Burch and volunteers from Wild Basin will take the group on a 30 minute interpretive hike around Wild Basin focused on reptiles.

    BE A MENTOR and support new students during their transition into campus life for the 2013-2014 academic year. Hilltop Mentors, coordinated by Student Life, matches faculty, staff, and upperclassmen with first-year, transfer, and international students. Mentoring is a relationship that, when consciously grounded in learning, is beneficial for both the mentor and mentee. This experience is about supporting development, fostering community engagement, and encouraging each individual to make the most of their time at St. Edward's.
