What is The St. Edward's Fund? The fund provides critical operating funds for each academic year by underwriting financial assistance and supporting student, faculty and program needs that would otherwise remain unmet. In very practical ways, gifts to The St. Edward's Fund foster the creative and intellectual potential of students.

Most people are surprised to learn that tuition and fees cover only about 70 percent of the full cost of educating students. Gifts to The St. Edward's Fund help make up the difference. Why give? Who gives?

Typically, 80 to 85 percent of gifts made annually to The St. Edward's Fund support student scholarships. The fund also supports resources and opportunities that enrich students' educational experiences and overall development, such as:

Meeting these needs allows St. Edward's to focus resources on initiatives that have immediate impact. Because such gifts are flexible, they are available for unforeseen opportunities that contribute to the high quality of the academic environment at St. Edward's.

Who gives to The St. Edward's Fund? More than half of all gifts to The St. Edward's Fund come from alumni. Parents, corporations, foundations and friends of the university also contribute. And, 80% of faculty and staff support the fund each year. The President's Associates and GOLD Associates are the university's annual giving leaders, donating one-third of the total goal each year. We also encourage graduating students to give back through Senior Gift, a campaign that enables each graduating class to leave its signature on the hilltop by raising money for The St. Edward’s Fund.

For example, $25 — soft-cover book for the library $50 — a carton of beakers for science laboratory $120 — supplies to build a stage set for the Theater Arts program $250 — software for a computer lab $500 — graduate school guides for career planning office $1,000 — computer technical support for students $2,500 — a partial scholarship Gifts of $5,000 and more help ensure that deserving students benefit from a St. Edward's University education.
