Curriculum and Courses


The MS in CIS program consists of four hours of foundation courses (Phase I) and 12 three-hour courses in three remaining phases. Phase II consists of five core courses in fundamental information systems topics. Phase III offers six advanced courses in pioneering areas of information systems. Phase IV brings the program together with a Capstone project utilizing skills gained throughout MS in CIS coursework.

Students with little or no background in information systems will take a foundation course during their first trimester to prepare them for the remainder of the program.

Phase I: Foundation Courses

MCIS 5100 Introduction to Management Information Systems
COURSE DESCRIPTION

Undergraduate equivalent: An undergraduate degree in CIS, MIS or CS, or two semester hours of an Introduction to Enterprise Computing, or successful completion of the waiver
exam.


MCIS 5301 Introduction to Computer Programming
COURSE DESCRIPTION

Undergraduate equivalent: An undergraduate degree in CIS, MIS, CS or three semester hours of a modern structured and object programming language such as Java, C++, Smalltalk or Visual Basic.
