Student Health Insurance
In order to protect your health and help support your academic success at SEU, the university requires that every student have a health insurance policy that is active in the Austin area.
The University offers a lower cost health insurance plan that covers up to 80% of the cost of most minor events that might "sideline" a healthy student.
In order to understand your insurance policy and maximize your coverage, it is important that you take a few minutes to review the details of your Student Health Insurance Plan.
As with any plan, please read the brochure carefully to understand the benefits as well as the exclusions and limitations. If you have a serious or chronic medical condition, this limited benefit plan may not cover all of your medical expenses.
Some of the plan benefits are:
- $400 yearly claim limit for prescriptions, through RxWest. There is a $10 copayment for generic drugs and a $30 copayment for brand name drugs. After reaching the maximum you are still eligible to receive prescriptions at a discounted cost
- $1,500 claim maximum for outpatient day surgery operating room benefit
- $50,000 Lifetime Maximum per condition
- Optional Major Medical benefit with a $50,000 total Lifetime Maximum benefit
- Pre-existing conditions are covered after 12 months of continuous coverage
- Global Emergency Services, including medical evacuation and repatriation provided by Assist America, Inc.
- $100 deductible per covered
person per policy year.
*** IF you currently have a serious medical condition, or want protection in case an adverse accident or medical condition occurs in the future, we recommend that you look into and purchase more extensive medical insurance coverage as soon as possible.
