ERASMUS FOREIGN EXCHANGE
PROGRAM AGREEMENT

Regarding the Partnership between
the Fachhochschule Koblenz
(branch of the FH Rheinland-Pfalz)
& St. Edward's University

GOALS
The partners intend (based on the mutual cooperation of both countries)

  1. To internationalize education.
  2. To arouse interest among students for the international academic as well as business community.
  3. To improve students' linguistic abilities through studies abroad.
  4. To broaden factual and interrelated knowledge by attending lectures at foreign universities.
  5. To enable students to master the challenges of a foreign situation.

DETAILS OF THE AGREEMENT

I. Concrete Projects

  1. The two Universities will exchange three students annually for one semester. Two semesters may be counted as one year of study.
  2. Students should be able to comprehend lectures in the respective foreign language. They should have completed two years and must have completed at least one year at their home university.
  3. Students will be registered at the guest university as regular students.
  4. The two universities recognize with this agreement (in the European Community Known as SOKRATES-Agreement) a basic equality in terms of accreditation and certification. They will support respective recognition in the broadest possible terms; these terms would be discussed with students beforehand through the use of advising.
  5. Within the European Community students of partner universities are equal to native students in reference to tuition and all fees. A further goal is to reduce and eventually eliminate all tuition at the respective universities.
  6. Both Universities will further attempt cooperation and support regarding the following questions:
    • Respective help with the search and procurement of internships and providing care for interns.
    • Assignments of academic projects, which can be carried out at the partner university.
    • Respective group excursions with subject-specific visitor programs.
    • Exchange of professors for lectures, seminars, and other teaching activities, as well as joint research and development projects.
    • Joint projects of professors or students at one of the two universities or at a third place.
    • Exchange of information regarding curricula and pedagogy.
    • Support for the study of foreign languages at the respective university.
    • The arrangement for rooms in dormitories or apartments.

II. Responsible Representation

In order to carry out this agreement, each university will select a responsible contact person. The contact persons of the two institutions will meet at regular intervals, at least once a year, to exchange information and to coordinate the programs.

III. Duration and Cancellation

This agreement is valid for the duration of three years and extends itself regularly for an additional year, unless one of the partners terminates the agreement. In case of a cancellation on-going cooperative projects must be carefully concluded in a correct manner.

IV. Further Cooperation

The partners will work towards closer cooperation, which might be augmented in the future to potentially include additional partners.

V. Action

The partners are under obligation to consult one another regarding all issues not addressed in this agreement, as long as one of the partners deems this to be necessary.
