The Philosophy
program offers a broad background in the history of philosophy
and in the traditional areas of philosophical inquiry, (e.g.
logic, ethics, epistemology, political theory, and religion).
Emphasis is placed on an informed and critical reading of
classic texts in philosophy and upon thoughtful consideration
of their applicability to contemporary problems and choices.
Upper-division courses allow for some specialization and
independent research in the works of major philosophers.
