Digital Drop Box

Printer-friendly versionSend to friend

The Digital Drop Box is like a personal storage space that both you and your students can use to store and access documents privately, but more importantly, the Drop Box may be used for students to “turn in” documents to you, and for you to send documents to students privately. While St. Ed’s email server has a file size limitation, ANY size file may be transferred using the Digital Drop Box. Also, each document “sent” is stamped with the date and time from a St. Ed’s server, so it cannot be manipulated by students. Any Microsoft-related file is compatible with Blackboard’s Digital Drop Box, but some file types, such as Quark Xpress files, are not supported. Please contact Instructional Computing if you have questions about this.

To put a file in your Digital Drop Box:

  1. Click on Control Panel.
  2. Click Digital Drop Box under Course Tools submenu.
Note: students enter their Digital Drop Box through Tools, so be sure to make that area available to them if you plan to sue this feature.
  3. Click Add File button.
  4. Title and (optionally) add Comments for the file you want to send, then Browse your hard drive for the file you want to upload.
  5. Click Submit

Next, you will get a warning message that is very important: This is to remind you to that the file you just uploaded to your personal Drop Box is now only visible and accessible to you. Next, you will be sent to your Digital Drop Box, where you should see the file you just uploaded.
