Connecting to the Wired (Ethernet) Network in the Residence Halls

Printer-friendly versionSend to friend

St. Edward's University provides free Internet access to all students living on campus. All St. Edward's University Residence Halls and Apartments are connected to the St. Edward's network via ethernet. Every room has at least one jack, and shared rooms will have two. Ethernet connections will be faster and more reliable than wireless connections.  The first time you connect to the network should be via the wired connection as the registration process will be faster via a wired connection.  Instructions for connecting to wireless on campus are found on the wireless site.

Requirements

In order to connect from on campus via the wired or wireless network, you must have

  • Windows 7, Vista, XP with all critical updates installed, Mac OS X, or Linux
  • Service Pack 3 for Windows XP
  • Service Pack 1 for Windoes Vista
  • Symantec AntiVirus (provided on SEU Software Downloads for free)
  • An ethernet cable for wired connections

Logging into the St. Edward’s Network for the first time

In an effort to provide a more secure and reliable resident computer network, St. Edward's requires a login to access the network. All Residence Hall users must login and register their computer through Enterasys Network Access Control (ENAC) to gain access to the SEU network. Windows users must also download the ENAC agent which scans the computer to verify that all anti-virus definitions and operating system updates are current.
