Alumni E-Mail Forwarding
Frequently Asked Questions About Alumni E-Mail Forwarding
What is Alumni E-mail Forwarding?
Alumni e-mail forwarding allows you to forward your St. Edward's e-mail to any other account you choose and gives you a “portable” address that you can use with family, friends and colleagues. This new forwarding service allows you to keep your familiar St. Edward’s University e-mail address. In turn, our forwarding service allows you to distribute your St. Edward’s e-mail address and avoids the need for friends and family to keep up with multiple addresses as you move, change employers or e-mail accounts.
I already have another e-mail address. Why should I use the St. Edward’s University e-mail address and forwarding service?
We’re proud to offer you this service so you, in turn, can show off your Hilltopper pride. No more sending mass e-mails to inform friends and family of your latest new e-mail address. If you change jobs, Internet service providers, or e-mail addresses, you can reroute your e-mail to your UNIVERSITY e-mail address by completing a form on our site.
What happens to my e-mail after my student account expires?
If you have enrolled in Alumni e-mail forwarding, all new e-mail sent to your St. Edward’s e-mail address will be forwarded to the e-mail address you have designated. Please note that no e-mail will be stored at St. Edward’s.
How long does it take to activate my alumni e-mail forwarding service?
If you have an active St. Edward’s University e-mail address, your alumni e-mail forwarding service will be activated at midnight on the day your student e-mail account expires. If your student e-mail account is already inactive, the forwarding service will be activated 10-15 minutes after you enroll.
I already forward my St. Edward’s student e-mail account. Will I need to register for e-mail forwarding when I graduate?
Yes. When you graduate, the forwarding arrangement you have as a student will end. You'll need to renew your forwarding by registering for St. Edward's University E-mail Forwarding Service (link to registration page).
What is my account name? What if my name changes?
Your account name and log in information for EdWeb is the same as when you were a student. If you would like to change your e-mail forwarding address to reflect a name change, please contact the Alumni Office at 512-448-8415 and they will submit your request to Computer Services. For official name changes that would be reflected on transcripts and official documentation from the University, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 512-448-8747.
Will my e-mail address be sold?

You will still have EdWeb access for your grades, transcripts, billing, and other services.
Can I get old e-mail messages stored at St. Edward's University forwarded to me?
Regardless of whether you enroll in the e-mail forwarding service or not, you will have 20 days after your student account expires to access your university e-mail account. This grace period is designed to give you time to forward any stored messages directly to an external e-mail address. During that 20-day period, you will need to manually forward or download any old messages you wish to keep. If you are planning to enroll in the new e-mail forwarding service, please note that this will process will need to be completed prior to enrollment. St. Edward’s does not have the ability to forward old messages once you have enabled e-mail forwarding.
How do I remove or update an existing forwarding e-mail address?
First you’ll need to register with your new Internet Service Provider (ISP) and obtain a new e-mail address. Then you’ll simply log in to EdWeb and update your forwarding order. Here’s how:
- Log in to EdWeb
- Choose “E-mail” on the left side of the screen
- Choose “Alumni E-mail Forwarding” on the bottom right of the screen
- Enter your new address in the box on the screen
- Click on "Submit Change"
- Wait for the confirmation screen
I have enrolled in E-mail Forwarding and received my confirmation. Why am I not receiving my forwarded mail in my forwarded account’s inbox?
Many e-mail programs have an option which will allow you to filter out unwanted “spam” or junk e-mail. If you have enabled one of these options you may be blocking your own forwarded e-mail. Often this mail is routed to your “Trash Can” or “Bulk E-mail” folder, where it may be deleted. You may be able to keep your junk mail filter in effect and still allow your forwarded mail to come through by checking your e-mail program to see if you have a feature which will allow you to define exceptions on a “safe list," or "mailing list."
How quickly will I receive my forwarded mail?
St. Edward's will forward your e-mail to the address of your choice. However, delivery of e-mail is the responsibility of your Internet Service Provider (ISP). If you do not begin receiving e-mail after the activation period stated in EdWeb or if you should stop receiving e-mails anytime after that, you will need to contact your service provider directly. Each ISP has its own policies and practices regarding accepting and/or blocking e-mail, including those that are being forwarded.
Who is eligible for E-mail Forwarding?
All alumni from the university are eligible for e-mail forwarding. If you need assistance with access to EdWeb, please contact the Alumni Office at 512-448-8415 or by e-mail at seualumni@stedwards.edu Please allow 24-48 hours for a response.
