Information Technology Governance
IT governance is informed by four separate governing bodies: the IT Council, the Computer Users Group, The Teaching, Learning and Technology Roundtable (TLTR) and the Web Projects Council.
IT Council
The goal of the IT Council is to address technology-related Teaching and Learning Policy and Resource Issues as well as critical technology-related Academic and Administrative Projects that affect the University as a whole.
The Teaching, Learning and Technology Roundtable (TLTR), the Computer Users Group and the Web Projects Council will bring University-wide technology-related academic and administrative issues forward to the IT Council. The IT Council will involve the Academic Council, Graduate Council, Council of Deans, and the Faculty Senate, as needed, to address policy and process.
Computer Users Group
The Computer Users Group addresses administrative computing projects such as EdWeb and CARS while also providing input to policies involving computer privacy, data integrity, security, and acceptable use. The Computer Users Group is composed of staff from campus offices. Members of the Computer Users Group meet monthly to discuss issues around the Jenzabar-CX/CARS system and to share technology information. This group prioritzes major projects for the Computer Services group which are then presented to the IT Council. For more information about the Computer Users Group contact Ray Spinhirne.
Teaching, Learning and Technology Roundtable (TLTR)
The Teaching, Learning and Technology Roundtable (TLTR) is a forum composed of faculty, staff and students that serves the SEU community by assessing, discussing and prioritizing technology needs in order to collaboratively develop a vision to improve the learning process. In keeping with the mission of the university, the TLTR recommends appropriate policies and strategies and facilitates the acquisition and implementation of technology resources. The St. Edward's TLTR is composed of approximately 10 returning faculty, at least one dean and representatives from support staff areas that have heavy involvement with and/or need to communicate across area boundaries about technology for teaching and learning--Library, Registrar, Administrative Computing, and Instructional Technology.
Web Projects Council
The Web Projects Council receives, analyzes, advises, and supports major web-based initiatives. The Council reviews, ranks, and, when deemed appropriate, recommends to the IT Council web-based projects, products, or applications.
