The primary purpose of technology equipment checkout in Media Services is to enhance coursework, presentations and other instructional areas of the academic experience.  Our goal is to have 100% availability and to provide users with fully functional ready to use equipment.  This includes charging batteries when possible.

Persons borrowing digital technology from Media Services will be charged a rental fee if the equipment is not returned by the specified due date and time. After the borrowing privileges have expired, a rental fee will be charged until the equipment is returned. Rental fees may be doubled over holidays and between semesters.  Rental fees apply to students, faculty and staff. Fees owed by staff members will be reported to their supervisors.  Fees owed by faculty will be reported to the dean of their respective school.

When equipment is not available

Equipment check out is not allowed over holiday weekends, between semesters and other periods when classes are not in session. During periods of, extreme rain, humidity or inclement weather, there is no equipment checkout. Students cannot check out the same types of equipment over consecutive periods without the supervisor's approval.  Renewals are based on availability.  The supervisor typically measures availability and demand in these instances.

We do not re-check out equipment over the telephone.  Equipment returned with missing parts will continue to accrue rental fees until the missing items have been returned.

Equipment return guidelines:
