Campus Standards for Technology Classrooms at St. Edward's University

 

  • An IP controllable LCD projector 3000 ANSI lumens, typically 3500 ANSI lumens
  • On screen integrated device control program
  • 2 GHz Computer or faster with a flat panel monitor running XP
  • DVD player as a computer device
  • DVD/VCR with auxiliary inputs
  • Single pull down video formatted screen approximately 84 inches diagonal
  • RF adjustable frequency wireless mouse
  • 16 foot whiteboard or chalkboard (faculty decision)
  • Dual lamp changer overhead projector on rolling cart
  • Auto-switcher for additional computer inputs (laptop)
  • Multi-source amplifier average about 20 watts
  • Directional speakers mounted from the ceiling
  • 2-way light switch, at door and on wall near instructor's desk zoned separately from the rest of the room lighting
  • A minimum of three network drops, one for the computer, one for the projector and one for a laptop
  • An analog telephone with emergency contact numbers listed
  • Instructions mounted on the instructor station

All classrooms are located within wireless Internet zones.

Digital still cameras

Media Services has digital still cameras available for checkout. Please review the checkout guidelines. Media Services has several digital video cameras available for checkout. The primary purpose of this equipment is to provide students with support for technology related coursework. A user tutorial is available.
Click on the model name for user’s guide information. The models currently supported are the Canon PowerShot A640 and the Canon PowerShot G10.

The digital still camera standards currently supported are:

  • 10- 14.7 megapixels
  • 4X zoom lens
  • Color LCD display
  • 1 gig SD card memory (holds at least 80 pictures at the highest quality setting)

Digital video cameras (Mini DVC's)

Media Services has over 50 digital video cameras available for checkout. The primary purpose of this equipment is to provide students with support for technology related coursework. Tutorials for both digital editing and digital camera best practices are available. The FS10 records on a SD card. The Optura 60, HV-20 and HV-30 record on min DV tapes.

The digital video camera (DVC) standards currently supported are:

 

  • 680,000 pixels or more
  • 2 hour battery
  • 2 lux minimum illumination
  • 22X optical zoom
  • Supports NTSC standard
  • Firewire, for faster downloads
  • We recommend using Panasonic mini DVC tapes. Mixing brands of tape is not recommended.

Digital Voice recorders

Media Services has 25 digital voice recorders available for checkout. The primary purpose of this equipment is to provide students with support for technology related coursework; foreign language recordings, interviews and audio podcasts. Starter training is available.

The digital voice recorder standards currently supported are:

  • 4 microphones
  • Records in MP3 format
  • Compatible with Macs and PC’s
  • Accommodates up to 16GB SD memory cards
  • Auto Gain Control (AGC) for pristine recordings
