CARS Quickmate

QuickMate is the Windows GUI (Graphical User Interface) application used to access CARS. QuickMate works in conjunction with SecureCRT to provide access to the admin.stedwards.edu server and provide a windows interface to CARS/Jenzabar-CX.

Accessing QuickMate

If QuickMate is installed on your computer look under Start > Programs > CARS Solutions > QuickMate.

If QuickMate is not installed on your computer, go to the SEU Software Downloads Page to download and install a copy. Enter your admin login and password to access the site.

QuickMate 1.3 Install

1. Double-click on the qm1_3b.exe file.
2. Click on Next.
3. Accept the license terms and click on Next.
4. Select Stand-alone Workstation and click on Next.
5. Click on Next twice.
6. Click on Install.
7. Click on Finish.

Configuring QuickMate

The first time you run QuickMate you must set some options.

1. Access QuickMate by going to Start > Programs > CARS Solutions > QuickMate.
2. On the first screen of the Configuration Wizard click on Next.
   
3. Click on the Configure button under Authorized Hosts.
   
4. Enter admin.stedwards.edu and click on Add and then OK.
   
5. Click on Next and then Configure under Helper Applications.
   
6. From this dialog box you may configure a specific a output viewer such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. If you don't choose a specific application it will default to QuickMate's built-in viewer which is a basic text editor. Click on Cancel if you want to use the default Output Viewer. To setup an Output Viewer: click on Output Viewer under Helper Application. Click in the box next to Launch Program. Click on Browse and navigate to the application you wish to use. Click on OK to save.
   
7. Click on Next to Configure Look and Feel Options. The important option to change on this screen is the Keyboard option. Click on the Keyboard button to access these options.
   
8. You need to change the Enter Key from Execute to Next Field by clicking on the circle to the left of Next Field. Click on OK to save.
   
9. Click on Next and then Next (again). On the final screen click on Finish to continue using QuickMate.

Using QuickMate

You must open QuickMate before launching SecureCRT. You will still use SecureCRT to connect to and login to admin.stedwards.edu.

1. Go to Start > Programs > CARS Solutions and select QuickMate.
2. If the QuickMate Configuration Wizard appears, click on Cancel.
3. Double-click on Admin Connect to launch SecureCRT. Login to admin with your admin login/password.
4. If you receive a message “A QuickMate connection has been initialized from the following host computer. Do you want grant authorization?” Click in the box “Always allow connections from this host.”. Then click on Yes.
5. Click on Administrative Database.
6. The QuickMate interface will launch at this time. You will be able to use your mouse to click on menus and options from menus.
