DoPDF
Portable Document Format (PDF) files are widely used because of their ability to present a consistent view of information independent of operating system. At St. Edward's the Copy Center requires files e-mailed for printing be saved in the PDF format. There are many ways to create PDFs using free software. In addition, the full version of Adobe Acrobat Professional can be used to create PDFs.
Using DoPDF on Windows
DoPDF is a free application that can be used by Windows users to create a PDF document. DoPDF creates a PDF printer that you can print to from any application to create a PDF document.
- Download and install DoPDF.
- Open the document (WORD, Excel, etc.) that you would like to convert to a PDF file.
- Go to the File menu and select Print.
- In the Printer drop down menu select doPDF.
- Click Ok. A new file will be created with the same filename as the original, but with the extension of pdf.
Creating PDFs on an Apple Computer
Beginning with OS X, all Apple computers have the built in ability to create PDF files with no additonal software needed.
- Open the document (WORD, Excel, etc.) that you would like to convert to a PDF file.
- Go to the File menu and select Print.
- In the Print dialog box click on the PDF drop down menu in the bottom left corner.

Submitting copy requests to the Copy Center via e-mail
- Address the e-mail to copy@stedwards.edu
- Attach the appropriate PDF file
- In the body of the e-mail, list your name, office or program, number of copies, paper color, if copies should be front-only or front-and-back, and if copies should be three-hole punched, collated or stapled. Remember anything submitted when the Copy Center is closed will not be ready until after 9 am the next business day.
