Online Learning for Students
Each semester many courses at St. Edward's University are offered in either an online or "blended" format. These courses are offered to provide students with a variety of learning environments, and sometimes online learning can provide more flexibility to students. A blended course includes both online and campus meetings, while an online course has no campus meetings, but may require an initial introductory meeting and/or synchronous online meetings. Students wanting more information about course requirements should contact the faculty member. Currently, a Bachelor of Arts in Public Safety Management is the only completely online major offered at St. Edward's University; all other students must plan to take some courses on campus in order to complete a degree.
Before signing up for an online or blended course, you should check out the What to Expect and Technical Requirements sections of this site to make sure that the virtual classroom is right for you. In all SEU classes you are responsible for your own learning experience; however, in an online environment there often is a requirement for more independent learning, and there are usually fewer audio and visual components to the learning experience. While students enjoy the flexibility of online learning, most report back that they find the online courses to be as challenging as, if not more so, than classroom-based courses
