Training
Instructional Technology’s Computer Training staff provides free computer training workshops to currently enrolled SEU students, faculty, and staff. The Computer Training staff offers instruction adaptable to students with many learning needs and styles. The workshops cover most of the university’s supported software. These usually last between 1 hour to 1.5 hours and are offered monthly, throughout weekdays, early evenings, and sometimes on Saturdays in the Moody Hall 309 Computer Training Room on the main SEU campus. We also offer various workshops at the Professional Education Center (PEC Campus) please check the location of the workshop on the workshop schedule.
Class Training for Faculty
The Computer Training staff can conduct a session for your classroom on any supported software program. We will work with you on adjusting our workshops to fit your curriculum. Please fill out our Class Training for Faculty Form to schedule a training session.
One-on-One Instruction
If you are working on a time-sensitive project and are unable to attend any of our monthly scheduled workshops and would like special instruction, we can arrange a personal appointment with one of our trainers. Please fill out our One-on-One Request Form to sign-up for an appointment.
Faculty Consultations
Instructional Computing offers in-depth Instructional Design services for faculty and provides one-on-one faculty consultations. They work with faculty to design their courses with the appropriate technologies to address the desired learning goals and accurate assessment. They train faculty on the uses of Blackboard, blogs, wikis, digital audio/video, streaming services, podcasting and online classroom environments. They also provide assistance with research design along with statistical set-up and analysis.
New Employee Training
We acquaint new university employees with a 60-minute introduction to campus technology services. This usually includes an introduction to Outlook, Oracle Calendar, EdShare, and CARS/Jenzabar CX. The head of your department can schedule an appointment by calling the Computer Help Desk (x8443) or by filling out the New Employee Training Form. Please register at least 3 days prior to the new employee’s start date.
Department Training
We can keep your staff up to speed with new technology, and we will work with you to fit our sessions to your department needs. Please fill out the Department Training Request Form to schedule a training session for your department. Examples of previous department trainings include: and overview of Microsoft Office 2007 and an introduction on how to use Microsoft Outlook 2007.
I.T. Circuit
Our certification program is available to all currently enrolled university students, staff and faculty and is designed to enhance computer skills in academic and professional settings. The I.T. Computer Competency
The Computer Competency Requirement is a graduation requirement for all Undergraduate and New College students. Our training staff ensures that all Undergraduate and New College students gain knowledge with basic computer skills in educational and professional settings.
