The translation of signals takes place in the CPU. The
CPU is a microchip inside the computer which contains the
logic circuitry that responds to and processes instructions
that drive the computer.
- Even though the processor has its own identity and performs
a very specific function, the box that the processor resides
in is commonly referred to as the CPU (as depicted in
the picture above). The box contains the microchip, memory, removable storage device drives, and many other components.
