Lesson 6 - File Management
Section 6 - Moving Files, Folders, Aliases

Moving Files, Folders, Aliases

Moving is the action performed when you want to relocate a file, folder, or alias on the same storage device (ex. desktop to the hard drive). Moving an item is accomplished by clicking and dragging the item to a new location. When the new location becomes highlighted, release the mouse button. The item is now considered moved. In the Macintosh OS X system you can only move items on the same storage device. If you attempt to move a file, folder, or alias to another storage device it will result in the item being copied. The only exception to this rule is when you move an item to the trash.
