Lesson 5 Index - Using EdShare
Section 4 - Accessing EdShare from the computer labs

To access EdShare from on campus you must login to the server using your account login information. This should be the same as your EdWeb login name and password. If you cannot login, you may need to reset your password using EdWeb.

Logging into the Student and Lab Stations

Student and lab computer stations no longer require an extra login to EdShare (Teacher's stations still require using the login icon.). When you login to a computer station, you will automatically be logged into EdShare.

To access your files on EdShare go to My Computer and double-click on the I drive or the drive with your login name next to it.

Your home folder will appear in a window and will be named the same as your user name. Use drag and drop to save files.

**Note: Be sure to logoff with the logoff icon before leaving the lab computer. If you do not, then anyone that sits there will have access to all your files.

How to login to EdShare in a MAC OSX Classroom or Lab:

  1. From the Finder, click on Go then Connect To Server.
  2. In the server address box, enter smb://edshare.stedwards.edu/foldername where "foldername" is the EdShare network drive you are trying to access. Enter your login name as the foldername. Example: smb://edshare.stedwards.edu/sarahg
  3. Click Connect
  4. Choose “Registered User” under “Connect as:”
  5. Enter your login name and password then click Connect. If you cannot login, you may need to reset your password using EdWeb.

  1. The drive should now be mounted on your desktop (named by your login). Double click on it, and use drag and drop to save files.
  2. When done, drag the mounted drive to the trash to logoff.
**Important: Be sure to logoff by dragging the drive to the trash before leaving the lab computer. If you do not, then anyone that sits there will have access to all your files.
