Module 3 - Introduction To Library Research
Lesson 1 - Index Intro To Research, Resources, & Services
Section 1 - Introduction

It is commonly acknowledged that a high-quality academic library is crucial to any university program. What is often overlooked is the necessity of ensuring that students acquire the skills needed to fully utilize library resources. Central to all forms of higher education is the concept that students need not only to learn, but also to learn how to learn. Competent research skills are a vital part of lifelong learning. The role of the library is to serve as the gateway to the overwhelming amounts of information available today. The role of the librarian is to assist with and instruct in locating and retrieving pertinent materials. The objective of Lesson 1 is to help you become familiar with the Scarborough-Phillips Library resources and services.
