Section 6 - Action Buttons
Action Settings allow the presenter or the viewer to move through the slideshow at their own pace.
Create an Action Button
- Select the slide you want to place a button on.
- In PowerPoint XP or MAC PowerPoint 2004, click on the Slide Show button on the main menu bar andselect Action Buttons, an d t hen select the button you want.
- In PowerPoint 2007, click the Insert tab, then the Shapes button an d t he Action Buttons are at the bottom of the shapes selections.
- To draw the button, click and drag the mouse pointer on the slide.
- In the Action Setting dialog box, select the appropriate action and item to link to (For example: select URL... from the Hyperlink to: drop-down menu, type in a web address, click OK to close the Hyperlink to URL dialog box, and click OK to close the Action Setting dialog box.)
Edit the Action Button Link Destination
- Select the Action Button on the slide.
- In PowerPoint XP or MAC PowerPoint 2004, from the Slide ShowMenu select Action Settings
In PowerPoint 2007, click the Insert tab and then click the Action Button.
- In the Action Setting dialog box, select the appropriate action and item to link to (For example: select URL... from the Hyperlink to: drop-down menu, type in a web address, click OK to close the Hyperlink to URL dialog box, and click OK to close the Action Setting dialog box.)
Change the Action Button Color
- Select the Action Button on the slide then double-click on it.
- In PowerPoint XP or MAC PowerPoint 2004 the Format AutoShape dialog box will appear. Click the drop-down arrow on the Fill Color option and choose one of the following:
- Select one of the colors from the default scheme.
- Select More Fill Colors to open the full color palette.
- Select Fill Effects to choose a unique background pattern.
In PowerPoint 2007 click the Format tab and you will have a variety of options for formatting the button in the ribbon.
