Section 3 - Services
Presenters are encouraged to practice their presentations in
the technology classrooms before they are scheduled to present.
Versions of sound and animation software are constantly evolving,
and as a precaution, it is recommended that presenters play these
files in the technology classroom or conference room where the
presentation will occur. Make sure the presentation is downloaded
or copied to the hard drive of the computer. Presentations run
more efficiently from the hard drive than from another storage
device. There also may be difficulties with DVD’s and CD’s
that were homemade or not purchased from a vendor. We recommend
testing these beforehand. Also, when presenting a video it is
important to edit the footage rather than searching for segments
during the presentation.
All classrooms at St. Edward’s University feature at least
a high-speed computer with Internet access, a DVD player, a VCR
unit, amplified sound, a wireless mouse, automatic input switchers,
and integrated control systems. These technology classrooms accommodate CD’s, DVD's, and USB storage devices.
Most importantly, we recommend that presenters back-up
their presentation to ensure that the
presentation is saved and available. Ways of backing-up your presentation include:
- Saving it to your Edshare account
- Uploading it to your class in BlackBoard (if available)
- Emailing it to yourself
- Saving it on portable storage devices (CD's, DVD's, and USB Flash Drives)
