Important notice regarding files uploaded to Blackboard on Friday, June 27
Due to the problems with the upgrade to Blackboard on Friday afternoon, we had to restore the system using backups from midnight on Thursday. Any files uploaded between midnight and 2:00 pm on Friday may not have been retained. Quizzes, surveys, discussion board posts, etc. should be okay. If you uploaded files during that 14 hour time period please check to see if they are there. If not, either reload them or contact the Computer Help Desk (helpline@stedwards.edu) to see if we can find the files. If you do contact the Computer Help Desk, please give them the exact course (ex. A-HIST1201.01) as well as the file name and the content area (Assignments) you uploaded the file to. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this.
Firefox 3 for Windows not compaitble with Blackboard
Students should refrain from using the Windows version of Firefox 3 with Blackboard. There is a bug that prevents students from uploading Assignments using Firefox 3. There are no known issues for faculty using Firefox 3.
St. Edward's Dial-in Access ends August 30, 2008
St. Edward's will no longer offer dial-in service, via modem, to the university network after August 30, 2008. If you are currently using dial-in, please make arrangements to contract with another Internet Service Provider for service before August 30. Once you have contracted with another Internet Service Provider you will need to change settings on e-mail applications such as Eudora. For assistance please contact the Computer Help Desk.
Student Discounts on Computers and Microsoft Office
St.Edward's students may receive substantial discounts (priced at $55 - $65) on Microsoft Office at e-academy. Both Dell and Apple also offer educational discounts on computers.
Microsoft Office 2007 Upgrades Scheduled
Microsoft Office 2007 has been installed on campus computers in MH 212, the 24-hour labs in Ragsdale and Trustee and Library 203 as well as TR 305. All other labs, with the exception of the Woodward Office Lab, will be upgraded to Office 2007 over the course of the summer. The teachers stations in all non-hands on classrooms will not be upgraded to Office 2007 until the beginning of the fall semester.
Office 2007 is very different from previous versions of Office. Lots of quick training guides and 30 minute training classes on Microsoft
Office 2007 will be offered beginning May 12th.
Faculty and staff may request an upgrade to Microsoft Office 2007 for their St. Edward's computer through the Software Request Form.
Windows Vista will not be installed on campus
computers before Summer 2009. The Computer Help
Desk can assist students with Windows Vista in getting connected
to our network.
