Information for New Employees
All benefits eligible staff and all faculty receive a computer
account at St. Edward's University. Accounts are created upon
completion of Human Resource's requirements. Username and a temporary
password are mailed to your campus mailbox address. Faculty and
benefits eligible staff will automatically receive access to
email, Faculty or Staff Information on the Web, Blackboard and
EdShare. Access to other systems will be dependent on status
and specific access requested by their supervisor. Call the Computer
Help Desk (448-8443) if you have questions.
Information for Supervisors
To ensure that
your new employee has computer access (including email, web access,
network access, admin account, and Corporate Time) submit the
following documentation to Human Resources (Premont 101) at least
5 working days prior to the hire date:
- Completed
and signed PPAN
- Completed and signed Application for Employment
- I-9 [Employee must show proper identification and work authorization
to HR]
- Signed Background Check Consent Form
New Employee Training
Schedule an appointment with Training staff by calling the Computer Help Desk
(x8443) at least 3 days prior to the new employee's start date. We can
come to the new employee's office and give them a 60 minute introduction to
technology services at St. Edwards. This can include an introduction to using
Eudora, CorporateTime, EdShare and CARS/Jenzabar CX. Please note that the employee
must have a computer account set up before this time.
Employee Access to Services by Status
- Guest Accounts -- access only to e-mail unless other access
is explicitly requested and granted via the Non-SEU
Account Request Form.
- Faculty Accounts -- access to EdWeb for Faculty, e-mail, CorporateTime,
EdShare, Blackboard
- Adjunct Faculty
Accounts -- access to EdWeb for Faculty,
e-mail, EdShare, Blackboard
- Benefits Eligible
Staff -- access to EdWeb for Faculty, e-mail,
CorporateTime, EdShare, Blackboard
For CARS Database Access
Submit a signed Request
for Admin Computer Account Form to
the Database Administrator (C/M 1025) at least 3 working days
prior to the hire date. If non-SEU staff, such as contract workers,
need access to CARS please submit a Non-SEU
Account Requst Form.
For Computer Hardware and/or
Software
- To order new hardware
or software, submit a request
at least 10 working days prior to the hire date.
- To reconfigure
an existing computer for a new employee, contact the
Help Desk – 448-8443 – at least 5 working
days prior to the hire date. Computers that are being passed
down to a new employee should be re-imaged before the employee
starts. This process involves wiping all data off the computer
and reinstalling the operating system and applications. Backup
of any documents on the computer may be requested by the supervisor.
For Telephone and Voicemail
Access
For your employee to have phone and voicemail service
on the first day of employment contact Telecommunications (x
8799):
- At least 5 working days prior to the hire date to have a
new phone line and/or telephone unit installed
- At least 1 working day prior to the hire date to change
update existing telephone service
