Internet Access On Campus - Configuring Windows 98

Logging into the St. Edward’s Network for the first time

In an effort to provide a more secure and reliable resident computer network, Network Services will require a login to access the network. All Residence Hall users with Windows Operating System computers must login to the Clean Access Tool to gain access to the SEU network. This tool scans the computer to verify that all anti-virus and Windows updates are current. Instructions for logging into the network and running Clean Access.

Checking your Network Properties
If you cannot reach the network to login at all you may need to check your Network Properties.

1) Go to the Control Panel, then to Network. Double-click on the Network Control Panel. Your screen should look similar to this.

2) You must now highlight Client for Microsoft Networks and then click Remove. Do the same to NetBEUI, IPX/SPX-compatible Protocol and Client For NetWare Networks. The only item left should be your Ethernet card. Now click Add.

3) Highlight Protocol and click Add. Choose Microsoft in the left window and TCP/IP in the right. Then click OK at the bottom of the window to return to the Network window.

""

4) Click OK to close the Network window. You will be prompted for the Windows disks or CD. Follow the on-screen instructions. When done you will be prompted to restart the computer. Click YES to restart.
