Configuring Windows XP for Guest Access to the Wireless Network on the St. Edward's Campus
 

Guest access to the wireless network is available in the public areas of Ragsdale, Moody Hall, Trustee Hall, the Library, the John Brooks Williams Science Building and the outside area between Ragsdale and Trustee hall.

Connecting to the Wireless Network (stedwards-guests)

Part 1: Select the stedwards-guests wireless network
Part 2: Login to the network

Part 1: Select the stedwards-guests wireless network

Connect to SSID (Service Set Identifier) "stedwards-guests":

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. Select Network Connections and then Wireless connection.
  3. Scan and select "stedwards-guests" from the available networks.
  4. Check the box next to "Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network, even though it is not secure," then click on Connect. If you are unable to connect, please see Wireless Troubleshooting.
* Note: Signal strength should be between the levels of "low" and "excellent" for a reliable connection.

Part 2: Login to the St. Edward's Network

  1. Open a web browser and click on Guest Access.
    Guests have limited network access and limited bandwidth (equivalent to a dial-up modem).
  2. Connections to stedwards-guests are not secure and are at a limited bandwidth.
