Share Information

Every individual (faculty, staff and students) is automatically granted an EdShare account for their personal use. Each department of the university also has a shared space that is accessible by every member (faculty, staff and student worker) for that department. If you wish to setup a special directory or "share" for a class or for a cross departmental committee you may do so. These shares may only be created by faculty or staff, but students may be added to the shares.

Special shares have the following characteristics:

  • The share name is proceeded by s_
  • Any currently enrolled student or employed faculty or staff may be added to a share
  • Shares may only be added or maintained by faculty or staff

Sending E-Mail to All Share Members

An e-mail alias is automatically created with every share that is created. The alias will send e-mail to all members of a share.

To send e-mail to members of a share to which you belong type the address in the following format: share.s_sharename. For example, to send an e-mail to the share s_hdeskstu address the e-mail to share.s_hdeskstu. If you are sending the e-mail from a non-St. Edward's Internet Service Provider add the server name of stedwards.edu. For example: share.s_hdeskstu@stedwards.edu.
