Computer Help
Accessing EdShare from a Lab or Classroom on Campus - Macintosh OS X

To access EdShare from on campus you must login to the server using your account login information. This should be the same as your EdWeb login name and password. If you cannot login, you may need to reset your password using EdWeb.

**Note: Be sure to logoff by dragging the drive to the trash before leaving the lab computer. If you do not, then anyone that sits there will have access to all your files.

  1. From the Finder, click on Go then Connect To Server.
  2. In the Server Address box, enter smb://edshare.stedwards.edu/drivename where "drivename" is the EdShare network drive you are trying to access.
To access your home folder: Enter your login name as the foldername. Example: smb://edshare.stedwards.edu/abeg
For your shared department folder: Enter your 4 letter department code. Example: smb://edshare.stedwards.edu/itec
    Mac Edshare Login

  3. Enter your login name and password in the appropropriate fields (the Workgroup/Domain should be STEDS), then click OK. If you cannot login, you may need to reset your password using EdWeb. Click here for instructions on how to reset your password.
  4. The drive should now be mounted on your desktop (named by the drive name you entered in step 1). Double click on it, and use drag and drop to save files.

Here is an example if you used your login name:

  5. Double click on it, and use drag and drop to save files.
  6. When done, drag the mounted drive to the trash to disconnect from EdShare. **Note: Be sure to disconnect the drive in labs and classrooms, or if others use your computer. If you do not, then anyone that uses that computer will have access to all your files.
