To use Eudora 7
to check and send mail from your St. Edward's University account
you will need to setup your incoming and outgoing mail servers.
You will be setting up Eudora to use
Secure POP to check your email and
to use a process called "authenticated
SMTP" to
send your email. Secure POP encrypts
your password for a higher level of
security. Authenticated SMTP means
you can use a St. Edward's University
mail server (smtp.stedwards.edu) to
send email from your computer from
any location instead of using your
RoadRunner, SBC or other service's
outgoing mail server.
To setup Eudora to use the St. Edward's Mail Servers
from any location:
1. Click on the Tools menu and select Options.
2. Click on Getting Started under Category.
3. Change the Mail Server (Incoming) to mail.stedwards.edu.
4. Change the SMTP server (Outgoing) to smtp.stedwards.edu.
5. Change the Return address to your new address with the format login@stedwards.edu.
6. Click
on the Checking
Mail under Category to change your Secure Socket settings.
7. Click on the drop down menu in the Secure
Sockets when Receiving section
and select Required, Alternate Port.
8. Click on Sending mail under Category and enter stedwards.edu for the Domain to add to unqualified addresses. Be sure to leave the Secure Sockets when Sending section as If Available, StartTTLS.

Click on Ok to save these settings.
