Many e-mail management functions in Eudora can be done automatically
using filters. You can automatically sort incoming or outgoing
mail into separate mailboxes or send an automated reply when
you are on vacation.
To access Filters:
PC: Click on the Tools Menu and select Filters
Mac:
Click on the Special Menu and select Filters
To add a new Filter click on the New button in the
lower left corner of the Filters window.
- In the Match section determine whether your filter
will affect Incoming or Outgoing emails.
- Use the Header drop down list to select which
section of the Header your filter will work on:
To, From, Subject, etc.
- Use the next box with the default value of contains
to determine how you will match header information.
For example, Subject contains Help would match
any subject with the word Help whereas Subject
is Help would only match if the subject line was
exactly Help.
- In the box to the right, fill in the text you
wish your filter to act upon. For example, if you
want all of your emails that come from your professor
to go into a separate class mailbox, you could
set up the filter to be: From - is - prof@admin.stedwards.edu.
- Use the Action section to tell Eudora what you
want it to do with an email that meets the criteria
you have selected in the Match section. These include
Copy and Transfer To. You could use the Copy or
Transfer actions to sort incoming messages into
separate mailboxes.
- When you finish setting up your filter, click
on the close box in the filter window and you will
be prompted to enter a name for your new filter.
The filter below transfers all incoming mail
from helpline@stedwards.edu and transfers
it to the helpdesk mailbox
.
