A Signature is text that you can place at the end of each
email. Generally, people use their names, address, phone,
and/or email address as a signature. Some people may also
use quotations or pictures. Signatures are a matter of personal
preference, and the purpose of a given email (professional
or social) may give direction to the type of signatures created
and used. It is considered good netiquette, however, to not
use large signature files on a routine basis.
To create a Standard signature in Eudora:
- Windows: Select Signatures from the Tools menu.
Mac: Select Signatures from the Special menu.
- Double-click on Standard. Standard is the signature
that will be used by default with every email you sent.
See the instructions below for creating alternate signatures
that can be chosen instead of Standard.
- Type in the
text that you would like to use as your signature.
- Click
on the Close button.
- Save the Signature when prompted.
To use your Signature:
By default Eudora should append the Standard signature to
every message. If you wish to choose a different signature, or if your signature is not working properly,
use the appropriate method below.
To set a default signature:
Windows: From the Tools menu select Options. Select the Composing mail Category on the left. From the drop down menu next to Signature, select the name of the signature that you created. Click OK.
Mac: From the Special menu select Settings. Select the Composing mail Category on the left. From the drop down menu next to Signature, select the name of the signature that you created. Click OK.
To use a signature on a single message:
In the New Message box:
Windows: Select Standard, Alternate or None
from the toolbar above your message.
Mac: Click on the Signature icon (JH) and
choose Standard, Alternate or None.
To create alternate signatures:
- From the Tools menu (Windows) or Window menu (Mac),
choose Signatures. The Signature window
appears.
- Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac) anywhere
inside the Signature window and choose New from the context
menu. Eudora displays the Create New Signature
dialog box, and asks you for a name.
- In the dialog box, enter a signature name and click
OK. A signature window appears.
- Enter your signature text in the signature window.
- Save the signature file using the File menu Save
command.
- Close the signature window.
