Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 for Windows XP and Windows Vista have a built in Junk mailbox. This mailbox
is used by Outlook's anti-spam filters to automatically filter
everything that meets its spam criteria. While this system
should pickup the majority of the messages that are tagged
as spam by CanIT, St. Edward's spam filtering application,
it may also find a greater number of messages it thinks are
spam. The
Computer Help Desk recommends that you scan this mailbox
to make sure legitimate messages are not being incorrectly
sent to Junk.
Checking the Junk E-mail Mailbox

To check the contents of the Junk mailbox in Outlook,
click on the Mail Folders area and
select Junk E-Mail. If you find a
message that has been incorrectly tagged
- Right-click on the message
and select Add Sender to Safe Senders List or Mark as Not Junk from
the menu.
- You may also right-click on the message and select Add Sender's Domain to Safe Senders List. You could use this to make sure all messages from @stedwards.edu were not sent to the Junk mailbox.
Marking Messages as Junk
If you find messages in your In mailbox that should be sent
to the Junk mailbox
- Right-click on the message
and select Add Sender to Blocked Sender's List. Use this option if you want all future e-mails from this person to automatically go to the Junk mailbox.
