Accessing Files from Home
Modem/Dial-In Questions
Do I need a modem
if I live on campus? No. All St. Edward's University Residence
Halls and Apartments are connected to the St. Edward's network
via ethernet. Every room has at least one jack, and shared rooms
will have two. Ethernet connections are much faster than modem
connections and should be used for connecting to the internet
from on-campus locations. To find out about on-campus Network

I want to install my own
network card and connection software. How do I get connected? Every on campus
resident is given a copy of the SEU Network Installer CD. If you
have lost yours contact the Comptuer Help Desk at 448-8443. Instructions
for logging into the network and getting connected may be found at

Are
wireless connections available on campus? Yes, wireless
connections are available in the public areas of most classroom
buildings and Basil Moreau Hall, Dujarie, Doyle, East, Teresa
and the on campus apartments. See Wireless

I already have an Internet
Service Provider (ISP) at home or at work. How do I access my
St. Edward's account? If you are connecting through another ISP, you have
several options for accessing your SEU account:
- EdWeb, faculty web pages, Blackboard, and Zimbra
or Squirrel WebMail are available from any ISP.
- Zimbra WebMail or
Squirrel WebMail is
the webmail service at St. Edward's University.
- You can forward email from your St. Edward's
account to another account that you have with
your ISP.
- Log into EdWeb and click on the E-Mail link.
- Click
on the Forward E-mail link.
- Enter the e-mail address to which you wish to forward
your mail and click on Submit.
- Faculty and staff can use SecureCRT to access admin.stedwards.edu
and the CARS/Jenzabar-CX system.
- Access to EdShare
from home is available through FTP software
such as WinSCP or Fetch.

How do I Dial-in? You will need only
the St. Edward's modem number and your St. Edward's University
login/password to dial in. The modem number is 437-7700. Your SEU
login/password will be used for authentication purposes. Please
be aware that long distance charges will apply if you are out of
the Austin area.
