Topper Text Web Browser
Requirements
Topper Text requires your web browser to accept cookies. If
you click on Topper Text within Blackboard and see a new screen
prompting you for your login and password again, that means you
need to change your web browser settings to allow cookies to
be set. The cookie that you need to allow is from the ClearTXT
website that handles all Topper Text requests.
Internet Explorer 6 & 7 | Firefox
Allowing Cookies in Internet Explorer 6
and Internet Explorer 7
- Go to the Tools menu and select Internet
Options.
- Click on the Privacy tab.
- If your Privacy settings are set to Medium or higher, click
on the Sites button.

- In the Sites dialog box enter the Address of Website:
http://stedwards.cleartxt.com/
- Click on Allow. The dialog box should look
like the following image. In the Managed Web sites section
you should see cleartxt.com under the Domain column and Always
Allow under the Setting column.

- Click on OK to save your changes.
Close all web browser windows.
- Log back into Blackboard and click on the Topper Text link
again. You should see the Topper Text screen with your information.

Allowing Cookies in Firefox
Firefox settings are correct by default. It is set to accept
all cookies. However, if you have changed these settings you will
need to specifically allow a cookie to be set for Topper Text to
work. To do this you will need to add the ClearTXT web site to
your Exceptions list.
- Click on the Tools menu in Firefox and select Options.
- Click on the Privacy option.
- In the Cookies section click on Exceptions.

- In the address of website field enter http://stedwards.cleartxt.com and click on Allow.

- The Site column should now have an entry for stedwards.cleartxt.com
and the Status column should read Allow.

- Click on Close and then OK to save your changes. Close all
web browser windows.
- Log back into Blackboard and click on the Topper Text link.
You should now see the Topper Text home screen.
