Fetch - Setting Up Shortcuts

Fetch is a file transfer program for Macintosh computers included with the SEU Network Installer. Members of the St. Edward's community may also download a copy of Fetch from http://www.frc.stedwards.edu/installers. With Fetch, you can transfer files to and from your Macintosh computer and other computers.

Setting up Shortcuts to servers in Fetch

Shortcuts allow you to keep frequently accessed servers on a list so that you may select it rather than typing in the hostname and login each time.

  1. From the Customize pull down menu choose New Shortcut.
  2. In the Shortcut Editor dialog box, type in a name for the shortcut.
  3. Fill in the Host, User ID, Password and Directory as described in Opening Fetch and Connecting To Another Computer. If there is a directory that you will always want to connect to, such as web_pub for students publishing web pages, enter it in the Directory field.
  4. Click on OK to create the shortcut.
  5. Once you have created the shortcut, you can access it via the File->Open Shortuct pull down menu.
