When you are connected to an ftp site, you will see the Main WS_FTP screen.

Main Screen:

***NOTE: the LOCAL site, such as the hard drive of your computer, is on the LEFT window of the Main screen and the REMOTE site, such as the web server acad.stedwards.edu, is on the RIGHT window of the main screen.

To Send a file to the computer you are connected to (local site to remote site):
Highlight the file on the LEFT window, then click on the icon.

To Recieve a file from the computer you are connected to (remote site to local site):
Highlight the file you want to retrieve on the RIGHT window, then click on the icon.

Opening a directory on the Remote Computer

To open a subdirectory on the Remote computer such as web_pub (for students publishing their web pages on the St. Edward's server), double-click on the folder to see the contents. The Remote Directory at the top of the screen will change (ex. /home/student/j/jortega/web_pub).

To disconnect from the computer you are currently connected to:

Click on the icon.

 

 

To exit WS_FTP:
Click on the icon.
