Turnitin.com is an online resource
for plagiarism prevention. St. Edward's University subscribes
only to the plagiarism prevention service from Turnitin.com.
If you wish students to submit papers to Turnitin.com for
checking you will need to create a course on Turnitin.com
to which you or your students can submit papers. Papers
submitted to Turnitin are compared against billions of Internet
documents, an archived copy of the Internet, Turnitin's local
databases of submitted student papers, and the ProQuest commercial
database. Every paper submitted to Turnitin becomes part
of its database.
If you are using Turnitin from within your Blackboard course
please see Using
Turnitin via Blackboard.
To start using Turnitin.com:
- Email Instructional Computing at instcom@aux.stedwards.edu
and request the SEU Account Number and password for Turnitin.com.
- You visit www.turnitin.com,
create a user profile (just like an email account)
and setup the class, creating an ID and enrollment password
for your students. See the Instructor
Quickstart Guide for complete instructions.
Students
may either submit papers electronically to you which
you then submit to Turnitin.com or you may give
the students instructions on submitting papers directly
to Turnitin.com via the class ID and enrollment
password you have set up.
*Warning: If
you submit papers on Turnitin.com, please make sure that
you only submit the paper once. Submitting a paper more
than once causes problems in the system, which prevents
reports from being generated. Please submit once and be
patient for reports to generate. Reports may take up to
5 minutes to generate.
See the complete Instructor
Guide to Using Turnitin.com.
